The thing that connects you to the earth is also the thing that sets us humans apart from most of the other creatures that exist on this fine planet. You see... we walk on two of our four limbs meaning that our little 18 inches (or under) of connectivity disperses the weight of our entire body. Humans evolved this way because it made hunting and gathering far more successful.
There are many benefits to standing upright on two feet but that's not the point of my story. The point is that our feet are the “middlemen” between outer space and the surface of the earth. They have to deal with the gravity of our bodies and the dangerous terrain that surrounds the earth. Our feet are on the same plane as an opposable thumb or being able to communicate, they have had a huge influence on our evolution.
Everything I have ever done in my life has required me to have special footwear, kinda funny to think about actually. For this reason, I have become very particular about what kind of footwear I want to wear.
Most of my life I have skateboarded, meaning I wanted a pretty small shoe with little padding. When I wasn't skateboarding I was riding my motorcycle, meaning I needed a bulky plastic boot that had plenty of protection. Gradually, the older I got, the less time I had to skateboard. I needed some footwear that would have the look and feel of a skate shoe but the protection of a motorcycle boot.
The boot I found had everything I wanted and more. Actually, it happened by accident. Danner sponsored a motorcycle show I put on and in the process I received a pair of Danner logger boots. These little puppies were compact, waterproof, protective and best of all comfortable!
The day I slipped them on my feet was the day I became a Danner man. Honestly, I haven't even considered anything else for footwear since. I can still skate around in them, ride motorcycles in them, work all day, and they feel great. If I have to stand on anything I want it to be a set of Danner work boots.
